How can the VET sector be evaluated in terms of the NEB? The very sector has spoken to us!
Following the best practices mapping activity based on which a good number of exemplary VET programmes and projects in line with New European Bauhaus values and principles across Europe were identified, the partners in the NEB Label for VET project took on the next activity in the project, namely the Focus Group interviews. The goal of this activity has been to gain reflections from various stakeholders of the VET sector about the assessment criteria for evaluating VET centres and projects in terms of dimensions comprising the core values and working principles of the New European Bauhaus framework.
Accordingly, four of the partners of the project, namely EGInA (Italy), Odyssea (Greece), Know and Can (Bulgaria), and Dante (Croatia) organized focus group interviews with at least eight individuals from their respective countries, who were representing various organizations (e.g. VET centres), while HVL (Norway) organized focus group interviews with eight individuals from various European countries other than those covered by the aforementioned four country partners. These focus group interviews were held over the period August – November 2024, and on average 5 participants attended each interview session, which lasted on average about 75 minutes.
The conducted focus group interviews provided the Neb Label for the VET project a wealth of insights and reflections from the informants from the VET sector and its stakeholders regarding the development of a tailored evaluation framework for the VET centres because of the NEB values and working principles. These include tens of qualitative and quantitative criteria suitable for assessment of VET schools, programmes and projects in terms of sustainability, inclusivity, aesthetic qualities, transdisciplinary approach, multilevel engagement, as well as participatory process. The collected insights will provide key input to the NEB Label for the VET project’s next activity, which will indeed concentrate on developing concrete assessment criteria – and respective questionnaires – to be integrated into the assessment framework for awarding VET centres with the NEB Label. For further details, please refer to the project’s achievements section on our website!
The next activity in the project will be focused on developing concrete NEB assessment criteria as well as questionnaires to be implemented in this regard when evaluating VET centres. Requirements for the development of a robust labelling framework will be already taken into consideration when establishing the assessment criteria and questionnaires. The goal will be to develop at least three assessment criteria for each of the NEB values and working principles. Over the next phases of the project, the assessment and labelling framework will be integrated into a digital tool and guidebook, which will be then pilot-tested before dissemination and actual implementation for the award of the NEB Label.
